Postcard - Former B.C. Penitentiary

This beautifully designed postcard is one of eight collectible postcards, each highlighting a landmark that has shaped the city’s rich history! The British Columbia Penitentiary has a lot of historical significance in New Westminster. The building was the original gatehouse of the Penitentiary built in 1878. This federal maximum-security prison operated for 102 years until it was decommissioned in 1980. The building is now home to a variety of businesses including a pub and café.
